Sonia Sulich

Sonia Sulich of Cutchogue died at Good Shepherd Hospice in Port Jefferson on Sunday, July 25, 2010. She was 82 years old.

Born in Albona, Italy, on Oct. 13, 1927, to Giovanni and Maria (nà e Gherbaz) DeRossi, she attended the College of Mount St. Vincent in Riverdale, N.Y. On July 9, 1949, she married Louis F. Sulich at St. Brendan’s R.C. Church in the Bronx.

Beginning in 1968, she spent weekends and summers on the North Fork before moving here permanently in 1995. From 1954 until 1995, she resided in Beechhurst, Queens, where she was a member of the Beechhurst Women’s Club and the local women’s bowling league.

Predeceased by her husband on May 10, 2010, she is survived by two daughters, Teresa M. Scofield of McLean, Va., and Luisa M. Beebe of Cutchogue; and three grandchildren, Daniel Scofield, Theodore Beebe and Lisa Beebe.

The family will receive friends on Monday, Aug. 2, from 10 a.m. to noon at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services will follow at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. George Gaffga officiating. Interment will follow at Cutchogue Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation would be appreciated.
