Peter Kevin Johnstone

Peter Johnstone

Peter Johnstone, 59, passed away quietly in Greenport on July 16, 2010, after a short illness, surrounded by his loving family.
The son of John and Evelyn Johnstone of East Williston and Nassau Point, Peter spent his entire life on Long Island.
He and his wife, Gayle (Salmon), resided in Southold for 34 years, raising their twins, Peter and Jennifer, in their home at Reydon Shores.
A well-respected master craftsman and custom builder, Peter earned his living in the local community.
Peter, an avid fisherman and boat enthusiast, loved nothing more than time spent with his family and dear friends aboard the Jenny Gayle.
He happily enjoyed sharing his love of model trains with children and adults alike, always followed by a selection from the lollipop jar.
The central core of his life was the devotion he felt for his wife, children and grandchildren. Their love flowed freely between each member and was an unconditional gift extended by all.
Peter was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Dr. John Johnstone of Michigan.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gayle; his son, Peter; his daughter, Jennifer, and her husband, Michael Koke; four grandchildren: Camryn, Mackenzie, Logan and Peyton Koke, all of Southold; two sisters, Joanne Hall of Drakes Island, Maine, and Barbara Napoli of Chappaqua, N.Y.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations may be sent to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation:    Long Island Chapter, 425 Broad Hollow Rd, Suite 318, Melville, NY 11747.
