Bertha Kobylenski

Former Mattituck resident Bertha Kobylenski of Riverhead died there June 21 at the Peconic Bay Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility. She was 94.

She was born March 27, 1916, in Orient to Konstanty and Mary Bialeski and was raised in Mattituck, where she graduated from high school.

On Aug. 6, 1944, she married Harry Kobylenski at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue. She worked primarily as a homemaker and belonged to St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead and its Altar Rosary Society.

According to her family, she enjoyed cooking and playing cards.

Ms. Kobylenski is survived by her husband of over 65 years; her daughters, Jacqueline Witkop of Baiting Hollow, Rita Ness of Arlington, Va. and Cathleen Hanlon of Camillus, N.Y.; her sister, Frances Wisnewski of Cutchogue; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Family received visitors June 25 at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. Funeral services were held June 26 at St. Isidore R.C. Church, followed by interment at the church cemetery.
