* Allstate Insurance in Jamesport, owned by Heywood Orenstein, has been named a Premier Service Agency for 2010. According to a press release, “This designation, awarded to agents who have consistently demonstrated excellence in delivering an accessible, knowledgeable, and personal customer experience, is being presented to Orenstein for his commitment to putting the customer at the center of his agency’s work.”

* Two local Slow Food East End members were selected as delegates to Terra Madre 2010, “an international conference that gathers sustainable food producers, farmers, cooks, educators and activists from around the world to connect and share,” according to a press release. Jeri Woodhouse of A Taste of the North Fork and Ruth Schultz of North Fork Specialty Kitchen, both in Cutchogue, will attend the conference in October.
