Old Town Art and Crafts Guild members have cleaned house from basement to attic to bring a wide range of great bargains to their annual yard sale on the guild lawn this Saturday, July 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. And don’t miss the bake sale table inside where it’s air conditioned.

The Guild will hold classes for kids 7 to 14 on Thursdays during the summer. July 29 and August 5 classes will involve designing fashions from recycled materials. Then, on Aug. 7, “Retro-Green Project Runway” on the Village Green will give participants an opportunity to model their creations on the runway! There’s a also a Young Artist Contest in which kids 5 to 15 can enter original drawings or paintings. One winner from each age group will receive $25 and professional art lessons. The kids’ work will be displayed at the outdoor arts and crafts show on the Guild lawn on Saturday, Aug. 28. Call 734-6382 or e-mail [email protected].

Proud parents Sally and Dave Blados are happy to share the news that their son Ben received a full tuition scholarship to Lincoln Technical Institute in East Windsor, Conn., where he will study diesel mechanics starting in October. Congratulaitons!

On Sunday, July 4, the congregation of Cutchogue United Methodist Church welcomed its new pastor, Wallace “Wally” Robinson. Pastor Robinson, who replaces retiring Pastor Mary Helen Crump, comes to Cutchogue from Stony Brook, where he lives with his wife, who is pastor of Stony Brook Methodist Church. The congregation extends an invitation to the community to meet and welcome Pastor Robinson.

The Zuhoski family continues to count its blessings with the arrival of Lillian Dawn. She is the first child of Michael and Dawn Zuhoski, first grandchild of Gerry and Michael Zuhoski, and the eighth great-grandchild of Lucille and John Zuhoski Jr. She was born at Good Samaritan hospital weighing 6 pounds, 15 ounces, and being 19 1/2 inches long. Congratulations and G-d bless!

The Harbes family is also counting its blessings. On June 26, Jason and Dana Harbes welcomed Emma May, who weighed 7 pounds, 10 ounces. Mother and child are doing well. Emma May is the fourth grandchild of Monica and Ed Harbes; fourth grnadchild and Edward Harbes’ first great grandchild. Again, congratulations and G-d Bless!

The Southold Town Youth Bureau invites you to this year’s annual Summer Jam, Saturday, July 17, 6 to 9 p.m., at the recreation center on Peconic Lane. Young people in grades 7 through 12 can enjoy free indoor and outdoor activities, musical entertainment, barbecue, raffle prizes and more. For more information call 765-5806.

Rose Ann Burns is reaching out on behalf of Friends of the Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library for donations for the annual book sale. Hardcover and paperback books in good condition, CDs, DVDs and puzzles are welcome. Don’t forget to visit the sale on Friday and Saturday, Aug. 6-7.

Beat the heat with a visit to the Mezzanine Gallery at Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library. This month’s exhibit features watercolors by local artists Sophia L’Hommedieu and Jane Utz. Other activities include a morning book discussion on Monday, July 19, on “Out Stealing Horses” by Per Petterson; Family Flick Friday, July 16, 4 p.m. featuring “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” and “The Lightning Thief” rated PG. On July 20, 1-2 p.m. catch Fire and Ice by Mad Science Show at Parish Hall, for Grades K-6. Starting Monday, July 19, you can take an eight-session Pilates class for $60.
