WORTH NOTING Comedy calling

North Fork Community Theatre will launch its 2010-11 season with ‘Dead Man’s Cell Phone’ by Sarah Ruhl, which begins its run Sept. 9.

The protagonist, Jean, a mousy, introverted reader and coffee house habituà e, becomes irked that, despite her repeated encouragement, a man sitting nearby refuses to answer his ringing cell phone. When she approaches him, she discovers why: He’s dead. And when the phone rings again, she answers, setting in motion a chaotic, surreal and frustrating chain of events that involves Jean with the dead man’s family and international intrigue.

The play is directed by Shawn Snyder and features Schmoupy Juntunen, Yvonne Korshak, Deborah Marshall, Jim Navarre, Laura Pace and Alan Stewart in the cast.

The opening night performance on Thursday, Sept. 9, will be preceded by a reception at 7 p.m. Thereafter, showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. through Sept. 25. Tickets for all performances are $15 and can be booked at nfct.com or by calling 298-NFCT.
