Thaddeus J. Shelton

Thaddeus J. “Ted” Shelton, 93, passed away on Aug. 5, 2010.

A longtime resident of both Cutchogue and Delray Beach, Fla., Ted was a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, Class of 1941.

He worked his entire career as an executive of Union Carbide Corporation in Manhattan. Ted was an avid golfer and longtime member of the North Fork Country Club.

A devoted family man, Ted is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Genevieve, and his grateful children and their spouses, Barbara and Harry Hall, Linda and Mitchell Schwefel, Nancy Dove, and Robert and Mara Shelton. Also surviving are his adoring grandchildren Kat Hall, Greg Hall, Sandy White-Hall, Harry Schwefel, Mary Butterhof, Stephanie and Alexander Dove, and Neill, Lara and Marina Shelton; and his great-grandchildren, Sophie Hall and Henry Schwefel. Ted also leaves siblings, Frances Johnson of Lompoc, Calif., and John Shelton and sister-in-law Betty of Rockville Centre.

Ted was a devout Catholic and member of Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church in Cutchogue, where he will be remembered for his piety, humility, tolerance and caring nature. Visitation was held on Sunday, Aug. 8, at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Aug. 9, at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Church, with interment at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, Cutchogue.
