Turn in unused meds

Have outdated or unused prescription drugs in your home? You can drop them off anonymously at no cost at Southold Town police headquarters on Main Road in Peconic from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25.

The police department is participating in the federal Drug Enforcement Administration’s national “take-back initiative,” aimed at preventing the illegal or accidental use of prescription medications by getting them out of home medicine cabinets.

There will be a collection bin in the police headquarters lobby. Prescription and over-the-county solid medications, such as tablets and capsules, can be disposed of with no questions asked.

IV solutions, injectables and needles will not be accepted, nor will illegal substances such as marijuana or methamphetamines.
