Barbara Kaffke of Jamesport died on Sept. 11, 2010, at Oak Hollow Nursing Home. She was 72 years old.
She was born on Aug. 3, 1938, in Long Beach to Alice (Holobiack) and John Betic Sr.
Formerly of Rockville Centre, she had lived on the North Fork for the past 51 years. She was a communicant of Mattituck Presbyterian Church and an active member of its choir, which she loved.
According to her family, Ms. Kaffke was a devoted homemaker whose family was her life.
Predeceased by her husband, Fred A. Kaffke Sr., in 1982 and a son, Fred Jr., in 2009; she is survived by her children, Susan, of Huntersville, N.C., Nancy Blank of South Jamesport and Ruth Buckley of Baiting Hollow; a brother, John Betic Jr. of San Rafael, Calif.; and 10 grandchildren.
The family received friends Tuesday, Sept. 14, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Mattituck Presbyterian Church by the Rev. George Gaffga. The Rite of Committal was private.
