Irene T. Glynn

Irene T. Glynn, 85, a longtime resident of Southold, was peacefully reunited with her loved ones in Heaven on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.

Irene was born March 12, 1925, in New York City, daughter of the late Anna Elder Smith and William Smith.

She graduated in May 1946 from Comptometer School in New York City and worked as a licensed comptometer for Uniroyal Tire and Rubber in New York City for 40 years. In 1952 Irene married the love of her life, Charles F. Glynn; they were married for 49 years. They had several West Highland terriers throughout their lifetime and they were like children to them. Irene was an active member of St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold. She loved her Westies and was an avid bridge player.

Irene is survived by one brother, William Smith of Jackson Heights, N.Y., a sister-in-law, Anne G. Smith of Fairmont, W.Va., a nephew, Edward R. Smith of Malverne, N.Y., two nieces, Pamela A. Paulin and spouse of Morgantown, W.Va. and Maribeth Beckner and spouse of Bridgeport, W.Va., one great-nephew, Douglas M. Paulin of Atlanta, Ga., two great-nieces, Lindsay L. Paulin of Morgantown, W.Va., and Raeanne Beckner of Bridgeport, W.Va., her faithful companion, Willow, and many wonderful friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Glynn, on March 3, 2002, a brother, Raymond G. Smith of Bruceton Mills, W.Va., and a sister-in-law, Irene Smith of Jackson Heights, N.Y.

Friends were received at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue on Sept. 8. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, Sept. 9, at St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
