Phillip L. McKnight

Phillip L. McKnight of Greenport died Nov. 13 at Eastern Long Island Hospital. He was 54.

He was born Oct. 6, 1956, at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport to Ralph and Hattie (Shelby) McKnight. Raised in Greenport, he graduated from Greenport High School.

On Nov. 18, 1988, he married Loretta Cratch. Mr. McKnight worked for the Village of Greenport road department for 21 years.

He was deacon of Shiloh Baptist Church in Southold and enjoyed working on his truck and taking care of his family.

Predeceased by his father, his twin sister, Phyllis, and sisters Tina and Loraine, Mr. McKnight is survived by his wife; his mother; his children, Jayfus Scully, Corey, Deron Anthony and Tre, all of Greenport; a foster daughter, Katina Bolding; his mother-in-law, Francis Cratch Kendred; siblings Diana, Roscoe, James Henyard, Marion McKnight Carpenter and Timmy, Daniel and Tracey Bisbee; brothers-in-law Carlton Miner and Larry Forman; and sister-in-law, Theressa Locus.

The family will receive visitors tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 20, at Shiloh Baptist Church in Southold by Pastor Tommie Edmond. Interment will follow at the First Presbyterian Church cemetery in Southold.
