Art Beat: Nov. 4, 2010

• George Cork Maul of New Suffolk will perform in ‘When Improvision Comes into Play: An evening of new music by contemporary composers,’ at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 5, at North Shore Public Library in Shoreham. Organized by Mr. Maul, the performance will also feature works by composers Jane Leslie, Joel Mandelbaum, Alexander Nohai-Seaman, Michael Poast and Marga Richter. Musicians include Steve Watson, Terry Keevil, Richard Vaudrey, Marga Richter, Joel Mandelbaum, Jane Leslie and Mr. Maul.
• Suffolk County Community College will present the Eastern Campus Student Art Exhibit beginning Monday, Nov. 8 and running through Dec. 15 in the Lyceum Gallery on the Riverhead campus. A reception will be held Thursday, Nov. 18, from 4 to 6 p.m.
• The Old Town Art and Crafts Guild in Cutchogue will host a Holiday Open House Saturday, Nov. 6, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. In addition, author Phyllis Lombardi of Cutchogue will be on hand from noon to 3 p.m. to sign copies of her book, “Dear North Fork.” A portion of the proceeds from book sales will go to Southold Town Relay for Life.
• Paintings by Anna Jurinich and Nick Cordone will be on display at the Rosalie Dimon Gallery in Jamesport from Nov. 5 through Feb. 3. An artists reception will take place Sunday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 5 p.m.
• Acrylic landscapes and still lifes by Chris Gordon will be on display at Peconic Bay Winery in Cutchogue during November. A reception will be held Sunday, Nov. 7, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
• Work by Calverton resident Jo-Ann Corretti will be on exhibit during November at Northport Library. A reception will be held there today, Thursday, Nov. 4, at 7 p.m.
