Forever Young organizer plans another benefit

Following up on her success in raising more than $3,000 to help improve the Third Street basketball court in Greenport, Forever Young benefit organizer Crystal Anderson has arranged a second event — this one with Hip Hop artist, Mike Check, to benefit a local family in need at Christmas time

On Wednesday, Dec. 8, two Hampton Jitney buses will carry fans to New York City to see Mike Check compete in the Hip Hop Unplugged Finals at Crash Mansion. For $35, participants get roundtrip transportation,  dinner and dessert courtesy of Butta Cakes in Greenport and a ticket to the competition.

One bus will be for Mike Check’s younger fans while the second bus will carry adults Ms. Anderson speculated may not love the music, but want to support their local talent.

In October, Ms. Anderson and Mike Check joined forces to present a concert at Townsend Manor, preceded by a dinner at the Third Street Firehouse to raise money for improvements to the basketball court. That event, like all of Forever Young’s programs, is dedicated to Ms. Anderson’s cousin Corey Freeman and Jefferson “Naquawn” Treadwell, both of whom died in separate motor vehicle accidents  this year.

Profits from Mike Check’s competition will go toward the adoption of a needy family for the holidays.
