Cops: Greenport shoplifter resisted arrest

An alleged shoplifter was caught stealing from Mr. Roberts convenience store in Greenport Wednesday night, according to Southold Town Police reports.

Police said that Victor Martinez, 22, of Greenport walked out of Mr. Roberts with a six-pack of Budweiser in bottles and a 2 liter bottle of Coca-Cola just after 11 p.m.

Mr. Martinez forcefully resisted being handcuffed by officers at the scene, according to police.

He was charged with petit larceny and resisting arrest and was taken to police headquarters, where he was held for arraignment.
