Healthbeat: Holiday blood drive at Cutchogue-New Suffolk library next week

• Cutchogue-New Suffolk Library will host a holiday blood drive on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 1-6:30 p.m. Walk-ins are welcome.
The library will host kickboxing classes for five weeks on Mondays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., beginning Jan. 3 and running through  Feb. 7 with no class on Jan. 17. The fee is $25.
Pilates classes at the library will be held Mondays, 6:30-7:30 p.m., from Jan. 3 through March 14, with no classes on Jan. 17 and Feb. 14 and 21. There’s a $60 fee. Call 734-6360.

• The title of the next discussion at the Southold Human Services Center in Mattituck is “How Do You Feel About …?” It deals with reactions to changes seniors experience as they age. The program is slated for Friday, Jan. 7, 11 a.m.-noon, and is sponsored by Southold Town, Eastern Long Island Hospital and the The Mental Health Association in Suffolk County. Call 298-4460.

• Dr. Barbara Prestano of Peconic ENT will provide free hearing tests at Mattituck-Laurel Library on Thursday, Jan. 6, 1-3 p.m.
A new chair aerobics program at the library begins Wednesday, Dec. 29, 5-6 p.m. The eight-week series costs $40. Bring three- to five-pound dumbbells.

The library will also host pilates classes for six weeks starting Wednesday, Jan. 5, 6:30-7:30 p.m. The fee is $45.
An eight-week low impact dance aerobics series begins Monday, Jan. 10, 9-10 a.m., with instructor Laurie Short. No classes on Jan. 17 and Feb. 21. Bring a mat, a pair of three- to five-pound dumbbells and water. There’s a $40 fee. Call 298-4134.
