Santa arrives in Greenport, six days early

Hundreds of people lined Front Street in Greenport on Sunday afternoon for the annual Santa Claus Parade, which began at Greenport School, proceeded along Front Street and then made its way up Main Street before finishing at the firehouse.

Santa and Mrs. Claus waved and threw candy from their sleigh as onlookers cheered. Marchers included local fire and rescue departments, bagpipers, representatives from CAST, the NJROTC, the North Fork Animal Welfare League, and an assortment of costumed characters.

Children lined up at the firehouse to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus after the parade ended.
