Southold-Peconic: SHS band to perform holiday music Thursday
In a few days, winter will officially be here. For some, that means packing up and heading south for the coldest months. The rest of us will enjoy what will hopefully be a mild North Fork winter.

As ‘cyber-employees’ of this newspaper, we columnists don’t have the opportunity to interact much with each other. In fact, I just met Oysterponds columnist Carol Gillooly for the first time this past week. I was dropping off some blankets at the Southold Town Animal Shelter and she was there checking out the kittens. After chatting, I had to make a quick dash since I am unfortunately allergic to those cute kittens. It was a fun meeting place, nevertheless.
Next week’s issue (Dec. 23) will be my last column until Jan. 13, so get in touch ASAP if there’s something that can’t wait.
