Margaret Flood

Margaret Flood of Riverhead died at her home on Friday, January 14, 2011, at the age of 91.

She was born in Paisley, County Renfrew, Scotland, on October 19, 1919, to James and Mary (née McCaffery) Flood.

A former longtime resident of New York City, she had been a billing clerk at RCA Communications (now G.E.) for thirty years.  She had been a communicant of St. Monica’s R.C. Church on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She moved to Riverhead eleven years ago and became a communicant of St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Virginia “Jean” Flood; nephews, James, Charles, Robert and Christopher Flood; a niece, Jean Marie Lemanczyk; great-nephews, Patrick, Daniel, Liam and Kevin Flood; great-nieces, Katherine Coates, Rebecca Pelham, Courtney Rose, Elizabeth Flood, Margaret Flood, Emily Dutton, Katherine Lemanczyk, Mary Flood and Ashlie Flood; and great-great-nieces and -nephews, Kieran Coates, Owen Coates, Asher Rose and Margaret Coates.

Calling hours are set for Tuesday, January 18, at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 19, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will take place at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx.
