Patricia A. O'Connor Reilly


Patricia A. Reilly (née O’Connor) of Southold died Jan. 19 at the age of 84. She had suffered from vascular dementia for five years.

She was born April 17, 1926, in Port Chester, N.Y. She lived in Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y., for nearly 30 years before moving to Peconic in 1985. For the past year, she and her husband resided at Founders Village in Southold. She worked as a collection agent at North Fork Bank and volunteered for many years at Eastern Long Island Hospital’s Opportunity Shop in Greenport.

She married Richard G. Reilly on Sept. 6, 1947. They had five children. According to family, she always made holidays celebratory events, with wonderful meals and a beautifully decorated home. She enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid gardener, golfer, card player and yoga practitioner. In the past year she was an enthusiastic participant at Katinka House Senior Adult Day Care in Mattituck, where, according to its director, she will be remembered fondly.

Predeceased by her brother, James, Ms. Reilly is survived by her husband, Richard; her daughters, Pamela Schider of Southold and Cold Spring Harbor and Priscilla, of Southold; her sons, Rick, of North Carolina, Christopher, of Mattituck, and Jonathan, of Cold Spring Harbor; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service was held Jan. 30 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. Memorial donations may be made to Katinka House, Town of Southold Senior Services, P.O. Box 85, Mattituck, NY 11952.
