Southold Blotter: Fishing pole theft in Cutchogue

Ten fishing poles and reels and two clam rakes were reported stolen from a garage on Fisherman’s Bend Road in Cutchogue on Jan. 24, according to police reports. The property owner said they were likely stolen sometime between Dec. 22 and Jan. 23. The matter was referred to the police detective division.

• Peter Cantela, 62, of Riverhead was unhurt after a car he was driving on Route 48 in Cutchogue lost control on the slippery road and struck a utility pole just before 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 26.

Those who are named in police reports have not been convicted of any crime or violation. The charges against them may later be reduced or withdrawn, or they may be found innocent.
