Artbeat: Panel discussion for architects and their clients

• Art Sites gallery in Riverhead will host a panel discussion entitled ‘Clients and Architects Thinking Together’ at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19. Authors Karen Franck and Teresa von Sommaruga Howard will lead the program, which focuses on their book “Design Through Dialogue: A Guide for Clients and Architects.”
Architects, designers and their clients are welcome to join the discussion.

• Now & Zen Yarns owner Christine Henson Thorpe will lead a workshop on ‘Dying to Knit & Crochet’ on Wednesdays, March 2, 9 and 16, at Oysterponds Historical Society in Orient. It’s part of OHS’ series of winter traditional craft classes.

Participants will learn dying techniques, color theory and composition. Kit costs range from $45 to $125. The class fee is $15. Registration is required at least three days before the first session. Call 323-2480.

• A wine-and cheese reception will be held from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at Studio East Gallery for the Greenport gallery’s 25th show. The mixed-media exhibit runs through March 5. Jan Wickline and Charlie Tramantano will provide music.

• East End Arts Council will offer “Winter Break Chill Out,” a series of arts workshops for children, at the EEAC School of the Arts in Riverhead and Brecknock Hall in Greenport, Tuesday through Friday, Feb. 22-25.

The Riverhead location will offer “Printravaganza!” for ages 8 and up on Wednesday-Friday; “Winter Mini Art” for ages 4-6 or 7 and up, Tuesday-Friday; and “The Art of Improv” for ages 9-12, Tuesday-Friday.
Greenport workshops will include “It’s All About Me: Writing a Winning College Essay” for high school juniors and seniors, Tuesday and Thursday; “My Own Ensemble,” theater for children with autism spectrum disorders and sensory integration disabilities and others ages 6-12, Tuesday-Thursday; and “Every Picture Tells a Story,” photography for ages 10 and up, Tuesday-Thursday.
