Firefighters and other first responders from all over Long Island – and one company from Mystic, Connecticut – marched through the streets as parade-goers cheered and shouted out thanks and blessings to the men and women who volunteer their time to keep others safe.

Community leaders including Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy, County Legislator Ed Romaine, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell and Greenport’s Mayor David Nyce marched along with the firefighters. Several scout troops, the Mattituck-Southold-Greenport NJROTC team, a band of bagpipers, and Mattituck’s Strawberry Queen Veronica Stelzer also braved the frigid weather.
