Harry G. Farrell

Former Greenport resident Harry G. Farrell died Jan. 22 in Canton, Ga., where he had lived since 2002. He was 93.

Born Oct. 3, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to James and Ida Farrell, he graduated from St. John’s University in Oakdale with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned a Master of Science from Hofstra University in Hempstead.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was an educator and administrator in secondary schools in New York and New Jersey for all of his working life.

Predeceased by his wife, Charmian, Mr. Farrell is survived by his sons, Curtis, of Nesconset, N.Y., and Clark, of Canton, Ga.; his daughters, Charm Derrick and Caroline Hess, both of Canton, Ga.; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service was held in Georgia at First United Methodist Church of Canton. Mr. Farrell will be interred alongside his wife at Pinelawn Cemetery in Farmingdale, N.Y. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
