Herbert Lindtveit

Former Southold resident Herbert Lindtveit died Feb. 2 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover, N.J., after a brief illness. He was 90 years old.

Mr. Lindtveit lived in Southold for 17 years until 2007, when he moved to Randolph, N.J. A former member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Greenport, he was a U.S. Navy veteran who served in World War II. He retired in 1986 as vice president at Sid Harvey Inc., heating and air conditioning wholesalers in Valley Stream, after 48 years with the company. He had formerly resided in West Hempstead.

Mr. Lindtveit was predeceased in 2010 by his wife, Catherine. He is survived by two sons, Herbert, of New Bern, N.C., and Kirby, of Williamsburg, Va.; two daughters, Catherine Liberman of Rockaway, N.J., and Margaret Whitney of Wyckoff, N.J.; his brother, Theodore, of West Hurley, N.Y.; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Feb. 6 at Tuttle Funeral Home in Randolph, N.J. Burial was Feb. 7 at Calverton National Cemetery.
