After record-breaking warm temps, chance of snow tonight

Today may be the first day of spring, but it appears Old Man Winter isn’t leaving the East End just yet.

The National Weather Service in Upton says there is a slight chance of snow tonight between 3 and 4 a.m. The chance of precipitation is just 30 percent and a low temperature of 25 degrees is predicted.

“Minor accumulations are possible, mainly for the elevated inland areas,” the Weather Service states on its Facebook page.

Rain is predicted for Monday, mainly before 2 p.m. with a high near 45.

High temperatures are predicted to be in the mid-40s all week until Friday, when the forecast calls for a high temperature of 39.

The chilly temperatures come just days after Friday’s record-breaking temperature of 77 degrees recorded at Long Island MacArthur airport. The previous record for March 18 was 72 degrees.
