Barbara E. Simon

Barbara E. Simon died March 15 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Greenport, where she had resided since 2005. She was 79.

Born Feb. 29, 1932, in Glen Ridge, N.J., to Zev and Helen Simon, she lived in New York from 1959 until 2005. Psychiatrically disabled since childhood, she developed her talent as an artist while living in a sheltered residence, according to her family. Her work has been exhibited in a gallery in Manhattan’s Chelsea neighborhood, and some pieces have sold.

Ms. Simon is survived by her brother, Michael, of New Suffolk, and his family.
