East End Drug Task Force arrests five

The East End Drug Task arrested four Greenport residents and a Laurel man Wednesday on a variety of drug trafficking charges.

The four Greenport suspects were taken into custody after police executing a search warrant conducted a pre-dawn raid at a Main Street, Greenport address and found cocaine, marijuana, scales, packaging materials and a large amount of cash, police said.

Arrested were Dacosta Foster Jr..,20; Lashawn Lawrence, 27, and Larencia Lawrence, 60, all of 540 Main Street, Greenport and Winston Simon, 44, of 327 5th Avenue,
Greenport.

Police said Larencia Lawrence was wanted by the NYPD on a bench warrant for possession of gambling records and will be extradited to Manhattan.

The task force conducted a similar raid at a residence on 6th Street in Laurel on Friday, March 11 and also found marijuana, scales, packaging materials a cache of money and an illegal weapon, according to police.

Police subsequently arrested Thomas Ahlers, 20, of 255 6th Street in Laurel, according to the task force.

All were arraigned in Southold Justice Court

The task force launched its investigations in response to complaints from neighboring residents. Officers from the Southold Town Police, Suffolk County Police emergency services unit and the County Sheriff’s canine unit assisted in both cases.

Funded by the county District Attorney’s office, the task force includes police officers and detectives from East End town and village departments, the state and county police, the county probation department and district attorney detectives.
