Greenport Boy Scout troop cleans up shorefront

Greenport’s Boy Scout Troop 51 joined forces with the North Fork Audubon Society and the North Fork Environmental Council on Saturday morning to clean up the Sound shorefront from Clarks Beach east to Inlet Pond.

Scouts, parents and volunteers braved the bitter cold wind to remove dozens of bags of trash left behind on the beach. In addition to household and picnic trash, the scouts removed tires, plastic containers,  large chunks of Styrofoam and dozens of small plastic bags filled with dog feces.

The litter will be picked up at a later date by the Village of Greenport.
