Health Beat: ELIH Auxiliary award, yoga for kids

• The Eastern Long Island Hospital Auxiliary has received an Advocacy Award from the Healthcare Association of New York State for its contributions to the hospital community. The auxilians were selected for their significant achievements as hospital and health care advocates, including participating on HANYS’ annual Legislative Day and in letter-writing campaigns to foster support for the hospital and sponsoring local advocacy and outreach programs.
“We are grateful to the auxiliary for taking the lead on writing to our local legislators and getting the word out to the community about issues important to the delivery of health care,” said ELIH president and CEO Paul Connor III. Each year, auxiliary members raise more than $340,000 for patient services and contribute more than 25,000 hours of service to the hospital, he said.
