SUFFOLK TIMES PHOTO | The Suffolk Times recently expanded its online real estate section to give readers a one-stop shop for North Fork house hunting.

In an effort to become the No. 1 online destination for North Fork house hunters, Times/Review Newsgroup recently unveiled an expanded real estate page on its websites.

The upgraded section features searchable local listings, open houses, news stories and even featured listings for readers to peruse on SuffolkTimes.com.

“We are very excited about offering our readers the ability to easily search local real estate listings and find open houses all in one place,” said Times/Review publisher Andrew Olsen. “The feedback from brokers and readers has been very positive. People love to search real estate listings whether they are in the market to purchase or not.”

The new searchable listing function allows readers to find properties on the market by entering the search terms most important to them. Searches by hamlet, price, or number of bedrooms and bathrooms are all possible. Readers can even sort to see only waterfront properties or locations with pools. Search filters can also be used to separate rentals and land sales from residential and commercial sales listings.

A new Open Houses feature provides real estate shoppers with a forum to see all the open houses on the North Fork to better plan their weekend house hunts.

The section also still features Times/Review’s traditional news stories on the local market and our House of the Week profile.

And there’s still more to come. We soon plan on publishing a weekly column from mortgage brokers, tips of the week and North Fork real estate statistics. The site will also be expanded to include Shelter Island and northeastern Brookhaven listings.

“All the local brokerage firms have been very enthusiatic and helpful with this process.,” said Sonja Reinholt Derr, director of sales and marketing for Times/Review.”Brokers and related business like financial services have been very intrigued by advertising opportunities created by this new area on our sites.”

Times/Review also encourages reader feedback. Have something you’d like to see from a local real estate site? E-mail Sonja at [email protected].
