Cutchogue-New Suffolk: Garage opens on Village Green, plant sale at N.S. School

Bride-to-be Mary Kaelin was one step ahead of her parents, Peg and Fred, and thought she was leading them into a surprise 40th anniversary party. Mary was stunned when, instead, everyone shouted “Surprise” in her honor because, as maid of honor Jane explained, it was really Mary’s bridal shower. Baby sister Carey came up with the plot, which brought siblings Bridget, Erin, Jane, Fred and Adam and their families together, as well as groom-to-be Todd Johnson, his mom, Rita and step-dad, Randy, and a roomful of other guests together to share laughter and good times. Helping Mary open her gifts were nieces Olivia and flower-girl-to be Jocelyn. Fred, an ex-fire chief, led Todd, grandchildren Wyatt, Lucas and Maya, son-in-law, Mark and Randy on a quick retreat to the firehouse. The happy couple returned to North Carolina after presenting Peg and Fred with the speech and CD Mary created to honor their 40 years together. Congratulations and happy anniversary!
