Marie Hansen Doyle

Marie Hansen Doyle, known as “Re,” died March 31 in Westhampton Beach. She was 79.
She was born in Greenport Oct. 30, 1930, to Jack and Nellie (Norkelun) Hansen, and grew up there. She married Jim Doyle in 1965.

Ms. Doyle worked for the New York Telephone Company prior to her marriage and held a variety of other jobs throughout the years, including preschool organizer, Mary Kay Cosmetics consultant, realtor and title closer.
According to family members, she was a dedicated advocate for the West Lake of Westhampton Association Inc. and other community causes, as well as a strong support for her husband during his years with the Westhampton Beach Police Department. They celebrated their 45th anniversary in October 2010.

Ms. Doyle is survived by her husband; her daughter, Maya; her sisters, Jackie Monsell and Margaret Grilli of Greenport; and a grandchild. She was predeceased by her sister, Esther King.
