Eastern Long Island Hospital is a 90-bed, acute-care, not-for-profit community hospital. It’s recognized centers for excellence include emergency care, geriatrics, ambulatory surgery, general surgery, pain management, women’s health, plastic surgery, orthopedic surgery, psychiatry, diagnostic imaging, men’s health, physical therapy and addiction services at Quannacut.

The ELIH Auxiliary, and the ELIH volunteer family offer opportunities for essential support work and fund-raising activities. The hospital’s Opportunity Thrift Shop in Greenport is considered by many to be a local treasure. The junior volunteer program offers community youth ages 15 to 28 an insider’s view of the hospital in exchange for a few volunteer hours, usually a minimum of two hours a week after school or on weekends. In addition, the hospital offers a summer work experience program for high school juniors, yearly scholarships to graduating seniors and a nursing scholarship program in conjunction with the nursing department at Suffolk County Community College.
