Greenport: Head Start to host chinese auction June 18 to benefit Class of 2011

As of this writing, 12 is my new favorite number. That’s the exact number of days until the official start of summer. Bring it on!

More than saying I come from one of the prettiest towns in America, and more than saying that I work at a nationally recognized blue ribbon school, I’m so proud to be a member of a community that’s so supportive of and generous to our graduating seniors. It just blows me away each and every year when I see the number of scholarships made available and the amount of money given out to help senior class members further their education. I know Superintendent Mike Comanda feels the same. On behalf of the school and this year’s graduating class I thank each and every one of you for your continued support of our youth.

North Fork Head Start would like to thank Matilda Palmore for 40 years of dedication and hard work. Program director Pauline Smith and staff would like to wish her well in her retirement.

Head Start will host a chinese auction June 18 to benefit the Class of 2011 and their family fun day. Admission is $5 with two free tickets. Additional tickets are six for $5. Doors open at 9 a.m.

CA Enterprise Co. and Marilyn Chiarello will host a bus trip for 50 women on June 25. The trip will head into New York City for the Braveheart Meet and Greet tour for a day meant to inspire women and show them ways to better themselves. The trip is free, but there is a $10 fee for the book that will be used during the event. If you’d like to attend, contact Crystal Anderson at 566-7737 or [email protected].

Liz Morrison will hold a fundraiser yard sale for the La Leche League of Greenport on Saturday, July 9, 8 a.m. to noon, at 421 Second St. in Greenport. She’s currently accepting donations of items in good condition. Contact Liz at 477-5914 or [email protected].
