Achievements

• Ashley Staron of Peconic has graduated magna cum laude from Green Mountain College in Poultney, Vt., with a Bachelor of Science degree in special education.
• Janna Cisterino of Greenport, Sean O’Hara of Southold and Jillian Sirico of Cutchogue have all earned places on the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Geneseo.
• Peter Olsen-Harbich of Mattituck has been named to the President’s List for spring 2011 at SUNY/Geneseo.
• Three local students have been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at SUNY/Oswego: Chris DeReeder of Mattituck, a junior majoring in philosophy; William Mehr of Southold, a senior technology education major; and Brian Waggoner of Mattituck, a junior majoring in public justice.

• Edward Ezzard, a 2010 graduate of Mattituck High School, recently completed Marine boot camp at Parris Island, S.C., and is stationed at Camp Geiger, N.C.
• Donald Fahey of Cutchogue has graduated from Providence (R.I.) College with a bachelor’s degree in management.
• Mary Swensen of Greenport has earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
• Two local students recently graduated with degrees from Quinnipiac College in Hamden, Conn.: Cassandra Castronovo of Laurel earned a Bachelor of Science in management and Erin Clark of Southold earned a Bachelor of Arts in psychology.
• David Siegfried of Laurel has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Northeastern University in Boston, where he is majoring in psychology.
• Jeffrey Irwin of Southold has graduated from Columbia University in New York City with Bachelor of Arts degrees in mathematics and philosophy. He will pursue postgraduate study in the fall at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pa.
• Katherine Doering graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina State University with a bachelor’s degree in political science. Inducted into Phi Beta Kappa in 2010, she was a member of the university scholars program and received the Robert J. Pleasants scholarship. Katherine, a 2008 Southold High School graduate, will pursue two advanced degrees in the fall, a law degree at Campbell University and a Master’s of Public Administration at N.C. State. Her parents are former Southold residents Bob and Irene Doering.
• Carl Weiskott of Greenport has earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual and dramatic arts from Rice University in Houston, Texas.
• Erin Brush of Cutchogue has earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational communications from SUNY/New Paltz. She will pursue a master’s degree at Marist College.
• Dan Sawicki of Mattituck has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he is a sophomore majoring in mechanical engineering.
• Benjamin Johnson of Laurel has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Drew University in Madison, N.J.
• Karl Cutler of Mattituck has earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Virginia Military Institute in Lexington, Va.
• Sarah Conlin of Cutchogue has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, where she is a freshman majoring in humanities and arts.
• Steven Kroll of Mattituck has graduated as class valedictorian from SUNY/Stony Brook with a bachelor’s degree in English. A member of two honors societies, Steven will pursue a master’s degree at Columbia University in the fall.
• Megan Penney of Southold has been named to the dean’s list for spring 2011 at the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
• Gillian Rowland-Kain and Emily Rowland-Kain of Mattituck have each earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in international relations from Connecticut College in New London.
• Air National Guard Capt. Glyn Weir of Mattituck, a member of the New York Air National Guard 106th Rescue Wing at Gabreski Airport in Westhampton, has completed the Squadron Officer School course at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama. 
• Three local students have graduated with bachelor’s degrees from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.: Byron Brinkmann of Mattituck earned a degree in business administration; Kevin Flinter of Mattituck received a degree in English/adolescence education; and Emily Scoggin of Cutchogue was awarded a degree in communications.
• Charles Turner of Southold, has been named to the dean’s honor roll for spring 2011 at Fort Hays State University in Kansas, where he is a senior.
• Sarah Hallock of Peconic, a 2010 Southold High School graduate, has been named to the dean’s list at Boston’s Northeastern University, where she majors in physical therapy.
