Achievements

• Scott Ofrias of Southold has graduated with a degree in economics from St. Anselm College in Manchester, N.H.

• Christina Stankewicz of Peconic has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at St. Bonaventure University in Olean, N.Y., where she is a history major.

• James Cook of Cutchogue has earned a place on the spring 2011 dean’s list at Kings College in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.

• Lauren Solo, a 2006 graduate of Southold High School and former Battalion Commander of her NJROTC unit there, has been commissioned into the U.S. Navy as an ensign. He first duty assignment will be as a Navy nurse at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego, Calif.

• Alexandra Kowalsick of Cutchogue has made the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

• Abbe Clark of Southold was named to the dean’s list for the spring 2011 semester at the University of Scranton (Pa.), where she is a senior majoring in biochemistry and cell and molecular biology.

• Michael Fouchet of Southold has been named to the spring 2011 dean’s list at Lehigh University, where he is a mathematics major.

• Zackery Nicholson of Cutchogue has earned a place on the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston.

• Lauren Carlson of Mattituck has graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. She will go on to pursue a doctorate in veterinary medicine at Auburn University in Alabama.

• Kevin Parma of Peconic has been named to the spring 2011 president’s list at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where he is a sophomore majoring in exploratory business.

• Brianne Gatz of Mattituck has earned a place on the dean’s list for spring 2011 at Western New England College in Springfield, Mass., where she is a junior majoring in communication.

• Adam Doroski, a graduating senior in the department of mechanical engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has won the MIT Sea Grant’s Dean A. Horn Award for undergraduate study in marine research. He was nominated for his senior thesis, “Precision Stationkeeping with Azimuthing Structures.” The son of Bonnie and Mike Doroski of Southold, Adam, who won an ROTC scholarship when he graduated from Southold High School, has also recently been commissioned as a 2nd lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
