Flash flood warning issued for Suffolk County
The National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for all of Suffolk County this afternoon.
The warning is in effect until 4 p.m. as rainfall rates of up to 1 1/2 inches per hour continue to fall.
“This will cause ponding on roadways,” the advisory reads.
The rain is expected to stop around 4 p.m., but could continue again after 8 p.m.
The Weather Service is warning drivers to avoid flooded roadways and to seek an alternative route if necessary.
There’s currently a 30 percent chance of rain Friday. Morning showers are possible Saturday before giving way to sunshine over the weekend.
