Helen C. Roland
Helen C. Roland of Southold died June 25 at the age of 81.
She was born May 18, 1930, in Malverne, N.Y., to Barbara (Conway) and Alfred T. Young.
Formerly of Wantagh, she had been a North Fork resident for 30 years, and was a communicant of St. Patrick R.C. Church in Southold. According to family members, she enjoyed knitting and snow skiing, and was a fantastic cook.
She is survived by her husband, Francis P. Roland; her children, James Murphy of Speonk, Kathee Wenskus of East Islip and Nancy Golden of Wantagh; her brother, Alfred Young of Southold; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, June 28, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 29, at St. Patrick R.C. Church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
