Christopher Jagel

Christopher Jagel died June 16 at his home in Southold. He was 41.

He was born Dec. 31, 1969, in Oceanside, N.Y., to Elinor (Ristuccia) and Louis A. Jagel. He graduated from Greenport High School and married Jacqueline O’Connor in Wading River on Aug. 8, 2006.

Mr. Jagel owned and operated Peconic Bay Excavation and Property Maintenance for 20 years.

According to family members, he loved to work with his hands and enjoyed boating, fishing, softball, car racing and motorcycles. He loved life, they said, and will be remembered for his generosity and selflessness.

Mr. Jagel is survived by his wife; his son, Rory; his daughter, Kyla; his mother; and his siblings, Patricia Humphrey, Peter, Louis and Tom. He was predeceased by his father in 2005.

Visiting hours took place June 19 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service was held June 20 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport, with Father Thomas P. Murray officiating. Cremation was private.
