Power Squadrons to return to Mitchell Park this month

Greenport will again host the United States Power Squadrons in District 3’s Rendezvous East on July 29 and 30.

“The last three rendezvous in Greenport were so successful, the squadron is back again,” said Glen Sherman, spokesman for the group.

Rendezvous East brings boaters from all 18 District 3 squadrons across Long Island together for a summer celebration that will fill the Mitchell Park Marina. Overflow boats will book space at nearby marinas, Mr. Sherman said.

Planned activities include a cocktail party Friday night, July 29, a flag raising ceremony in Mitchell Park at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 30, and a dance under the big top in the park that evening.

The United States Power Squadrons are the world’s largest nonprofit boating organizations, dedicated to community service and boater safety and education.
