Diana F. Minogue

Diana F. Minogue of Mattituck, L.I., died on July 20, 2011, at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, L.I., at the age of 77.

She was born July 25, 1933, in Brooklyn to Joseph and Adele (Pellegrini) Marchese. She attended Fontbonne Hall Academy and Nassau Community College and graduated Phi Beta Kappa in 1980 from Hofstra University with a B.A. in English/Publishing Studies.

Survived by her husband, James, whom she married in 1959, she also leaves behind her sons, Dennis, Richard and Evan; their wives, Joyce, Gina and Beth; and six beloved granddaughters, Sierra, Alexis, Gianna, Olivia, Mia and Julia; as well as her brother, Louis F. Marchese, and his wife, Gale, of Stroudsburg, Pa.

A professional secretary, Ms. Minogue earned her CPS certification in 1987 and was president of the Queens County Chapter of International Association of Administrative Professionals. She was a fundraiser for the IAAP’s retirement home for secretaries in Rio Rancho, N.M.

In 1965, Ms. Minogue moved with her family to Bellerose Terrace, L.I., where she resided for 35 years. She was active in the Junior Women’s Club of Bellerose, the Bellerose Terrace Civic Association, the Floral Park-Bellerose PTA, and after nine years as Den Mother, she became chairman of Cub Pack Troop 124.

Ms. Minogue moved to Mattituck permanently in 1999 and became active in several organizations there. She served happily as a member of The Friends of Mattituck-Laurel Library, eventually being elected to the library’s Board of Trustees, The Mattituck-Laurel Historical Society and Museums Inc., the Cutchogue Homemakers and the Cutchogue Fine Wines’ Red Hats Society, and was active in Sacred Heart R.C. Church, Cutchogue.

The family received friends July 23 and 24 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated July 25 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church by Monsignor Joseph W. Staudt, with her granddaughter Alexis singing her favorite hymns. Interment followed at Calverton National Cemetery.
