Konstantine Konstantaras

Konstantine Konstantaras of Southold died July 13 at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead. He was 77.

He was born April 15, 1934, in Piraeus, Greece, to Panagiotis and Koukoulas Konstantaras. He graduated from high school, and married his fiancée, Katy, in Piraeus on Dec. 27, 1961. He served in the U.S. Army for two years as a private in the mechanized infantry division.

He lived with his family in Teaneck, N.J., for 35 years and in Jersey City for seven years and was a painter with Local Union 377 for 20 years. He loved fishing and gardening, family members said, and always had time for his friends.

Mr. Konstantaras is survived by his wife of 50 years; his son, Panagiotis, of Dresden, Maine; and his brother, Anastasio, of Union, N.J. He was predeceased by his sister, Angelika, in 2000.

Visiting hours took place July 15 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A service was held July 16 at Sts. Anargyroi, Taxiarchis & Yerasimos Greek Orthodox Church, followed by interment at Sterling Cemetery, both in Greenport.
