Southold-Peconic: A fish printing class and an art exhibit at Southold Indian Museum

We’re halfway into July already and I hope all of you have been well. We’ve had some beautiful sun-splashed days for summer events, boating, going to the beach or just relaxing at home in the hammock.

Liz Gordon, George and Barbara Koch and Carol Taplin all had a wonderful time on their recent cruise to Alaska. They also had a chance to spend some time in Seattle, Wash., where a wedding was celebrated for one of George’s cousins. Liz was also happy to visit one of her cousins in Seattle, which was extra-special since they hadn’t seen each other in 40 years.

A ‘couples’ shower was held for Jenna Soto and James Kelly at the home of Jenna’s parents, Ralph and Maryann Soto, on July 2. James and Jenna will become husband and wife on Sept. 30.

Artist Mario Tomiatti’s framed giclees on canvas — including local scenes such as “Corey Creek Autumn,” “Paradise Cove” and “Tranquil Bay” — will be on display on the main level of Southold Free Library throughout August. Giclees are art reproductions created by using digital media and inkjet printing.

Artist Jack Schwartz will teach a fish printing class this Saturday, July 16, at 1 p.m. at the Southold Indian Museum. The cost is $20 plus a $10 materials fee. A few spaces are still available. The museum is open to the public 1:30-4:30 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. The summer exhibit, “Native Americans in Art,” features paintings, prints, photographs as well as the work of local wood carver Art Zielinski.

Belated happy birthday to Joey Cichanowicz who blew out 10 candles on the 10th. Cathy Hall’s neighbors also send belated birthday wishes. Cathy turned 39 on June 13.

This week, Deb Dibble celebrates on the 17th; Kristen Woods and Pauline Pharr on the 19th; and Ed Flynn and Chris Gallagher on the 20th.

Congratulations and best wishes to Libby Koch on her new business venture, “H20 Hospitality.” Capt. Libby will be running charters out of Greenport on her 27-foot Tiara for people interested in water sports, local cuisine and the total North Fork experience.

Addia Grace Hough, daughter of Michelle (Elak) and Bob Hough, was baptized last Sunday at St. Patrick Church in Southold. Family and friends gathered in Addia’s honor at the Hough’s Jamesport home.
