Southold-Peconic: A Salvador Dali-inspired dance performance at Horton Point Lighthouse

When you live and work here, summertime is not always a time to relax. Seasonal businesses are bustling, the roads are crowded and, before long, the season is over — without one single trip to the beach. Don’t let that happen this year! Take the time to enjoy where you live. Everyone else does!

Marisa Fedele, a rising senior at Southold High School, has been selected to receive a $500 scholarship from the Southold American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Congratulations to Marisa on this accomplishment.

At Horton Point Lighthouse on Saturday, July 16, at 6 p.m. the Edgar Cortes Dance Theater will perform “Dali Aqui,” a new work inspired by surrealist painter Salvador Dali. Tickets, which can be purchased at the event, are $15 for adults; children under 12 are admitted free.

The Wilinski clan would like to wish Roman a happy birthday on July 7. Cindy Locrotondo cuts her cake on the 9th; Eileen Bracken and Peggy Killian celebrate on the 10th; Tom Loper and Lois Manfredi blow out candles on the 12th; and Marge Butkovich and Brendan Byrnes will celebrate on the 13th.

Lois Dunne will travel to Gardiner, N.Y., (near New Paltz) on July 16 for a special memorial for former SHS Class of 1960 classmate Jerry Williams, the son of former SHS principal Henry Williams. Jerry passed away last September, before he was able to complete a project dear to his heart. Some close friends of his had lost their son and Jerry wanted to plant some flowers and shrubs at a park dedicated to the boy. Now, Jerry’s wife and daughters will honor his wishes and complete the planting of this garden. Anyone who knew Jerry is welcome to attend and Lois has offered to drive. The local fire department will provide a chicken barbecue. If you’d like to ride along with Lois, call her at 765-5493.
