Southold Town announces photo contest winners

BETH YOUNG PHOTO | Luke Budgin accepts his award.

Luke Budgin, an incoming senior at Mattituck High School, is the winner of the Southold Town Youth Bureau’s recent photo contest.

His photo, a night view of the sign marking the entrance to Southold on Route 25, will be featured on the town’s new website, to be launched later this year.

Luke hopes to study photography in college.

The town received more than a dozen entries, according to Youth Bureau director Phillip Beltz, who said a selection committee spent hours agonizing over them.

Two honorable mentions were also awarded, to Evelyn Fisher of Southold for her photo of two friends jumping at a bay beach, and to Katie Marlowe of East Marion for a shot of two boulders on the Long Island Sound shore.

All three winners received proclamations from the town and iTunes gift cards.
