Southold police arrest two on drunk driving charges

Drunk driving charges are pending against two men, including one who reportedly ran into the “Welcome to New York” sign in Orient, arrested by Southold police over the past two days.

At 1:15 Friday morning police police stopped Steven Arnott, 57, of East Marion on Route 25 in Orient. Police said Mr. Arnott was heading east and drove off the road and when attempting to back out of thick brush reportedly struck the welcome sign. He was held overnight for arraignment.

Just before 10 a.m.  Thursday police charged 53-year-old Andrew Richards of Lewisberry, PA for DWI on Main Road in Cutchogue. Police said Mr. Richards, who was westbound, was pulled over for failing to keep in the lane. He was also held for arraignment.
