1) When did you get the car?

I got this car in 1980. I started saving for this car when I was 11. I saved all my baby sitting money. It was $1100. At $1 an hour that’s a lot of hours.

2) What shape was it in?

Well it needed an engine, the motor was blown. The paint wasn’t good so it needed a paint job. I got it fixed up by 1982. By the time it was done I got my driver’s license. The original color was red but I wanted a brighter red so I helped mix the paint color to get this custom color.

3) What was the biggest challenge in restoring it, and did you do the work yourself?

I think the biggest challenge was upgrading the suspension because I wanted it to handle better. It is like giving birth, even though you have experts in the room you still gave birth to the baby. I researched what needed to be done for two years and decided exactly what I wanted to do to the car. Then my mechanic, I needed his hands to do the work. I chose all the experts to do the work on the car.

4) What’s your favorite thing/feature on the car?

Oooooh. I love the power it has. That’s my favorite thing.

5) What was the first car you owned, make and model?

This is it, my baby. I have a mom-mobile which is a Toyota Sequoia.
