Slide Show: Riverhead Mardi Gras Festival

The music, cuisine and even the humidity of New Orleans was brought to the banks of the Peconic River Saturday afternoon for Riverhead’s first Mardi Gras Festival. The event kicked off with a parade down Main Street at noon and continued with more than a dozen acts on two stages — one in the riverfront parking lot and the other in Grangebel Park. The free concerts, sponsored by the Riverhead Business Improvement District, will continue until 11 p.m.
