Tydfil “Ty” Kent Schelin Baker, 81, died April 23, 2011, in Fort Pierce, Fla.

She was born in Peconic, N.Y., grew up in the area and graduated from Southold High School. She married Lenny Schelin and they had three children while living in Long Island. In 1971 she moved to Fort Pierce.

In 1991 her husband, Lenny, died of cancer. While attending her 50th class reunion in Southold she got reunited with an old friend, Robert Baker, and soon after they married.

She was a member of the Indian River Presbyterian Church and choir, XYXs, Order of the Eastern Star, American Business Women’s Association and the Fort Pierce Code Enforcement.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Baker of Texas; sons, Lenny Schelin and Ernie Schelin, both of Fort Pierce; daughter, Gail Sheets of Fort Pierce; stepson, Bruce Baker of Texas, and stepdaughter, Gwen Clocker of Maryland; sister Lilian Nine of upstate New York; 12 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Eric “Lenny” Schelin, and followed by her sister Sarah Ann Starn on April 27, 2011.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 3, 2011, at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport. Arrangements are by Horton-Mathie Funeral Home.
