Southold prepares for Irene

Before the wind and rain picked up yesterday, residents got ready for the big blow, which started to gather strength Saturday night. Early Sunday morning the region was under a tornado watch as well as a hurricane warning. The worst winds, with gusts above 80 mph, were expected this morning as the eye of the storm approached Queens.
